sidesid style My father Nigel Stuart Hunter was a master at the school and my brother Roderick Stuart Hunter was a pupil. i am hoping that someone out there could give me some information of the school during the years they were present 1948 - 1952 as i was born in 1950 so do not remember that time at Stoodley.

I would be very interested to hear from them.

Hi Felicity
Thanks for the email. Was it your father who was headmaster at the school in that time, with a Mr Schuster as Assistant or joint head. Major Hunter?

Hi Mark,
The headmaster at the time was Mr Schuster to whom my father Major Nigel Hunter was joint head, also with Mr Schuster,s sister Margaret Oxlade who was a sort of housekeeper. Miss Hallet and Miss Nicholson were secretaries, Miss Frankpit who taught the younger pupils including my sister Catherine Hunter. Also a Mr Fawcett. A Peter Tarrant was my brothers best friend Roderick Hunter.
I hope this helps you.

Hi Mark,
Thank you for your reply. Was the ill health that you refer to, the accident that my father had with another teacher who kicked him in the head while playing Rugby. My father Major Nigel Hunter was evidently blinded by this accident for a while but made a full recovery later, but wass worried if hit on the head again he could have been blinded permanently.

Also can you tell me about the building of the swimming pool and the rifle range my father evidently organised these two things when he was there. There is no mention of them on your web site.

Hi Felicity
Apologies for inadvertantly changing your name last post!! Let me explain that i am a former pupil from the school, 1971~1979, and there are not many former pupils around from your fathers era, but i may be able to get in touch with a few from that time, in order to try and answer some of your queries. I met them at the last reunion that we held in 2011
I know the swimming pool and rifle range from my time at the school but have no idea of the history, apart from the pool used to be a lily pond, and at some time in the late 40's 50's the boys dug out the pond in readiness for the construction of the new pool. There should be some pictures of these on the website. Today the pool is still there but out of uses and sadly overgrown. The same with the rifle range. The firing shelf and roof still there but the range gone/overgrown. Willl try and get some clarity on the answers for you. have you tried the ravenswood/facebook site yet?

Kind regards
Mark Granger
