Coal mine photo was created by admin

I remember the coal mine photo because I am in it!!! I can still remember most of the names of the people and still have a copy of it in my attic somewhere!
I am bottom left, and cant really see the reyt of the people but if you make the picture bigger i will be able to name and shame the people if you like. It was take at big pit collery on a school trip out. the teachers were speight(geography and comb over!)
the other was the head master Mr Clifford Jones. quite odd how both his sons were the head boys!

Ok then here goes... oh and by the way if spellings or names are a little wrong please dont take offence.

Top row

Mr Clifford-jones, John ?, Sam ?, Jamie Greg, Mathew Clothier, Mister Speight, Andy Grieves,

Middle Row

Narn Ponsati, Daniel Marshel, Henry Fenton, Dean Cosker, Richard Pugsley, Aaron ?,

Bottom row

Me (Owen Richardson), Charles Barnet, Alan Hewes, Charles Lewis.

I remember that trip quite well because Jamie let off a popper in Mr Speights tent whilst he was asleep, I got stung on the head by wasps and we all stole road cones!!

Hi OJ
It's funny looking at those fresh-looking faces now when, at the time, these lot were always older and bigger than me.
I can fill in the missing surnames - Jon Hull, Sam Phillips and Aaron McCombe.
Are you sure on the bottom right one though? It looks like Charles Withers, if my memory serves me. I still see his brother, Peter, around Tiverton (normally in a drunken haze - me that is, not him).
Our class must have gone up to Big Pit and camped in Wales (the Brecons) a year after you lot.
I always remember that trip too. Was great fun. The one incident that particularly springs to mind was when I was sharing a tent with Alex Stanbury and James Falkner. I was just going off to sleep when one of them poked me or did something to annoy me, prompting me to shout 'you bloody gert c**t' out loud. I think Mr Speight heard me and he was a fair distance away.
I also remember us all calling Mr Speight by his first name, John, and it always used to annoy him, leading him into that memorable rant.
But in Wales we clubbed together to buy him a mug or something with John on it and he really liked it.
Cheers
James (now Jim)
PS - Haven't looked at the site for ages but it's still interesting to recall old times and faces.

Hi OJ & James

I was indeed one of the missing names in the photo - I remember this trip to Wales - we climbed a mountain called the sugarloaf, Andrew Grieve kept going outside the tent to pee on someone else's tent, we had a really poor selection of music for the school minibus and someone opened all our innocent eyes when they found a dodgy magazine.

I have loads of photos from the Ravenswood days and if I can find a scanner at work I'll try to post some.

I will always remember Mr. Speight's french class where we used to swap seats whenever his back was turned - much to his annoyance!
